David lives in his bathroom. He never comes out. His mother feeds him thin, flat items she can slide under the door. He has everything he needs. David has obsessive-compulsive disorder and he's not going anywhere, until he meets Julie and discovers that there just might be something--or someone--on the other side of the door that will make it worth opening.
Once again participating in the Festival of New American Musicals, The Chance Theater brings to the OC the staged reading of a New York Musical Theatre Festival favorite. The Boy in the Bathroom premiered at NYMF, earning four NYMF Excellent Awards including The Microsoft/HealthVault Most Promising New Musical Award and Excellence in Book Writing. Since its successful debut, The Boy in the Bathroom has gone on to receive the 2008 Anna Sosenko Trust Award, was selected for the 2008 ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop with Stephen Schwartz and was a 2009 Richard Rodgers Award Finalist.
