The Festival of New American Musicals (FNAM), in conjunction with Darren Criss (Glee) and executive producers Marcia Seligson, Bob Klein, and Linda Shusett, is proud to announce SHOW SEARCH, a national search for up-and-coming musical theater composers between the ages of 15 – 25 years old.
Once underway, the SHOW SEARCH contest will accept submissions of 10-minute musicals, written by 15 – 25 year olds, through FNAM's website or a dedicated YouTube channel. Professionals in the musical theater industry will review submissions and will narrow them to finalists from two age divisions (15 – 18 and 19 – 25 year olds). The musicals will be judged on storytelling, musicality, performance, and originality.
The goal of SHOW SEARCH is to give young composers an opportunity to showcase their talent and work with people in the musical theater world who can provide feedback, guidance and advice. In that regard, if chosen, Finalists and the eventual winners will have a chance to win the opportunity to work with a Broadway mentor to polish up their shows and have their 10–minute musicals performed and directed by some of theaters' top pros during a one night Staged Reading Event in Los Angeles.
Details of the submission guidelines and eventual prizes will be announced prior to the opening of the contest. If you are over 15 years of age and are interested in being notified about this contest, please provide the information requested below. Don't worry, we will give you all you need to know well enough in advance to give you time to prepare and submit your musical by the submission deadline!

"Kids who want to perform have lots of opportunities through their schools and local youth theater groups. But for those who create, the opportunities are practically non-existent. With Show Search we can begin to offer opportunities for up and coming talent to showcase their passion for musical theatre and the arts in a way that will reach thousands, speak to new audiences and will allow for prime exposure for these emerging musical playwrights."
— Bob Klein, Co-Executive Producer of the Festival
